Third graders got a chance to do some STEM activities that were items donated through grants from Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation. They coded Botley robots and a coding mouse! So much fun!!

Our last Kids Care of the month was busy on May 19th! We went to Ronald McDonald House, DakotAbilities, Foster Network, Banquet, Lifescape, and some stayed at the school to do other service projects! Thank you to the parents who helped and drove! Big thanks to Kristen Benidt who led the charge on lining up places to go and organizing parents and groups this year! We appreciate all she did!

Music class with Mrs. Anderson has been booming this past week with the chance to do some Drumfit! Kids love to be up and moving and making lots of noise! What a fun way to make music! These materials were donated by sponsors a few years back through a grant from the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education fund!

It was autographing signing day in Family! Kids take to the hallways and collect as many signatures as possible from their classmates, friends, teachers, parents, and other students! They love getting as many kids as possible to sign their booklet!! Maybe some of these signatures will be worth some money someday when they are famous!?!? 😉 Everyone felt like a celebrity today when signing their name over and over! 😁

The All City 5th graders had their graduation on May 18th at the ACE gym. Families, former teachers, and the students shared in memories and favorite moments through the years at ACE! There was singing, reflections, and a beautiful tribute video! It is always so bittersweet to have such pleasant fun memories come to an end, but we are so excited for them all to thrive in middle school! We will miss you all fifth graders and your families especially those who this is their last child at ACE! Thank you parents for all of your support and help through the years! Thanks to all of the parents and staff who helped organize this event, assisted in anyway, or brought treats! It turned out awesome! Thanks for the memories, 5th graders!

On May 15th, we had "Fly Up Day" in Family! This is an opportunity for each grade to 'fly up' to the next grade to officially meet their new teacher next year!! For example, kindergarteners got to meet Miss Joffer, first graders met Mrs. Rausis, second graders met Miss Leloux, third graders met Miss Nelson, and fourth graders met Mrs. Gray. The fifth graders got to go back to Mrs. Pike in kindergarten where they got to sing their old kindergarten songs, watch the K graduation video, and relive their old memories from the past! It's a fun exciting day to think about next year! It's also a little bittersweet to know the end of the year is near with their current teacher/grade!

Your preteen is navigating their first summer without childcare. Older siblings are caring for younger siblings at home and meal preparation is a little too much responsibility. You’ve hired a teenage companion to take your kids to the parks, camps, and activities but this means funds are tight for food. These are all real scenarios playing out in homes and apartments across Sioux Falls. That’s why the Sioux Falls School District is proud to, once again, offer free breakfasts and lunches to all children, ages 1-18 during June and July 2023. Using meal counts from previous summers, the Office of Child Nutrition established a schedule for breakfast to be offered at eight schools on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Lunch will be served Mondays through Thursdays at six locations and Monday through Friday at two locations. The schedule will be emailed to SFSD families and will be posted on the District’s website: sf.k12.sd.us. No income eligibility paperwork is required.. In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g., Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.), should contact the Agency (State or local) where they applied for benefits. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech disabilities may contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800) 877-8339. Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English. To file a program complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, (AD-3027) found online at: https://www.usda.gov/oascr/filing-program-discrimination-complaint-usda-customer, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form. To request a copy of the complaint form, call (866) 632-9992. Submit your completed form or letter to USDA by: (1) mail: U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights 1400 Independence Avenue, SW Washington, D.C. 20250-9410; (2) fax: (202) 690-7442; or (3) email: program.intake@usda.gov This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

The 4th and 5th grade annual bike trip was on May 10! Students started riding from Spencer Park to Falls Park where they took a short break for a snack, photo op, and fun memories checking out the falls with their classmates. After that, they traveled back to Spencer Park for lunch. What a beautiful day for a bike ride and memories! Thank you to all of the parents who helped with the food, dropping off.bikes, chaperoning on the trail, and helping out in anyway! Thanks to Scheels for helping with the bike safety training and coming along with the kids and families for the ride. Thanks to Kristen Benidt for lining up a goodie bag from the city with a map and other fun items inside! Thanks to Mrs. Gray and Miss Nelson for coordinating with parents all of the day's details and for Nurse Nick who also helped with any medical needs and came for the bike ride. Thanks to anyone who has ever purchased items from the School Store as this helps with the food for the day! What a fun tradition to keep going at ACE! We are so lucky to be able to do all of these fun things!

On May 9, we had a Recycling Magic Show put on by Bill Kerwood for the ACE and EIC 3-5. He was so full of energy and taught kids about ways to recycle and help their community. He combined humor, magic, and fun to ignite their passion to recycle more each day! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Thanks for visiting us Bill!
