On Friday, April 1st, Mrs. Reis’ General Foods class held a Grilled Cheese Challenge. Students were divided into groups, and were able to choose their bread, meat, cheese, and up to three additional ingredients. At the end of class, students sampled all the sandwiches, and voted on the winner.
Winning for period 1 was Lidia Reyes Mazariegos, with her summer inspired sandwich, the Summy.
The Meggkey, was the period 2 winner created by MacKinzie Wethor, Maci Adams, Giselle Corado, Riannah Zandt, and Nuhamin Admassu.
Elijah Klein, Mylie Paulsen, Derek Ranschau, and Aiden Wildermuth earned a win during period 3 with their Grilled Crunchwrap, a tortilla wrapped grilled cheese with extra ingredients.
The period 6 winners were Amanuel Gebremedehine, Mohamed Abdulkadir, and Trey Harty-Olsen with their Turkey Bacon Double Cheese Mac and Cheese Grilled Cheese, which was described as Crispy on the outside, cheesy and gooey on the inside, with a hint of bacon.
Period 7 ended the day with Carter Spicer, Colten Garber, Jordan Dettler, and Damaris Fields sharing their creation, the Best Grilled Cheese, a white bread sandwich filled with roast beef, shredded steak and provolone cheese, with mayo on top.
