All City is an unique and special school because of the high parental/family involvement on a daily basis. Each family is required to volunteer in and out of the classrooms for each child that attends ACE. In preparation for that, volunteers are trained by parent leaders/trainers over a course of two weeks. The first week was spent getting trained on classroom routines, the whys of volunteering, and understanding the routine and procedures of our school. The second week was spent in the classrooms practicing with parent modelers what was taught by our superb trainers! We are so grateful for all of the parents who were our trainers and modelers this year! They spent so much extra time preparing for these trainings!! We are so excited to have parents back in our classrooms and helping with all of our fun activities! Thank you again and again parent trainers and modelers!! You are the best!

Miss Leloux’s All City 3rd graders and Mrs. Geier’s Elementary Immersion Center 2nd-3rd graders paired up to read together during buddy time out in the Outdoor Classroom outside of Jane Addams! They enjoyed the new comfy yoga mats and adjustable stools (that were a part of an Education Foundation grant received previously) to relax and enjoy a good book together! Thanks again to the sponsors of these items! The kids truly enjoyed them!

***Aluminum Can Collection Fundraiser Alert*** All City has partnered with a local company, R&T Unit Can Company, to collect aluminum cans. We will have a collection bin similar to the one pictured that will be located in the entryway of the school. All you have to do is bring your cans and place them in the bin. You may crush them if it’s easier to collect at home, or not, it’s up to you. This fundraiser will last the entire school year. We encourage you to ask your family and friends to help you collect cans too. The more cans we collect the more money we can earn! There are a couple things that we ask of you when collecting your cans. The first is that we please ask that you rinse your cans out as best you can. This will help the bin from getting all sticky and gross. The second is to try and remove the tabs so they can go to support the Ronald McDonald House. There will be a white container that is labeled next to the can collection bin to make this easier for you to drop them off in one place. Finally, please remove cans from grocery or other types of bags before placing them in the collection bin, if the recycling company has to open multiple smaller bags the amount we earn per pound is reduced. We do have a can crusher attached to the wall so there is more room to collect in the bin if you have time to crush them. If you have any questions please reach out to me on here or email Karina at fundraising4ace@gmail.com.

UNO is always a hit in Family time! It is so cute to watch the older students teach the younger students how to play! It’s always a battle of everyones own “house rules” for the game! Every child’s family always plays it just a little bit different! Lots of fun!

All City is considered a speciality school because of our huge involvement of parent help in and out of classrooms. In preparation for helping in the classrooms, parents are trained by “parent trainers and modelers” who have worked with the teachers on what is needed to be taught for routines and expectations in the classrooms. This week parents have been learning their ‘how’ and ‘why’ they help at our school! Next week, they dive into the hands-on training in the classrooms to practice what they learned. It has been such a great week seeing all the ACE families at training! We are excited to have you back!

ACE 4th and 5th graders played some card games with their Elementary Immersion Center (EIC) 4th and 5th grade "buddy classroom." Each week they plan different fun, social, and educational activities to build on forming new friendships with each other. Buddy classrooms really help students connect with others in our Jane Addams building! So fun!

Family time is so fun! “Family time” is an opportunity for students to be in a mixed age K-5 group of students where they participate in fun, engaging, collaborative activities together three times a week. Each K-5 teacher is assigned a new group each year and siblings of kindergarteners get to be together! There is a focus on social emotional learning, group projects, technology, leadership qualities, and most of all fun! Today, students got a chance to blow bubbles together on the playground with the whole school! So many smiles!
