It's School Counselor's Week and we are so thankful for our counselor, Mrs. Sweeter!! The kids adore her and love when she comes in to give her Guidance lessons! Feeling puzzled? Mrs. Sweeter can help! Her kindness and patience with the kiddos makes her a great resource to turn to in times of need. The students and staff showed their appreciation with these signed puzzle pieces! Thank you for all you do!

Ashley Armstrong from SURF (Sanford Underground Research Facility) out of Lead, SD came back again this year to talk to the ACE students about everything science!! She is a very engaging presenter who gets the kids excited about learning new things!
The kindergarten and first graders presentation was over “How hot is it?” They got to do experiments with testing the temperature of three different glasses of water, compare temps, and test out several different methods of taking temperatures.
The second and third graders learned about the importance of perseverance, identified what to do when things get hard and discuss how to learn from mistakes as the story of the search for dark matter is shared! They got to try to build the tallest tower and not give up when things got hard!
The fourth and fifth graders learned about particle accelerators and how they work and why they are indispensable when studying neutrinos.
Thank you, Ashley, for coming to our school again! We learn so much from you and it’s so interesting to hear about all of the ongoing SURF projects!! We love when you visit!
Fun fact: Miss Leloux used to coach Ashley in basketball when she was in high school! 😁
