Here are our Soaring Eagles from last week of March 13-17! Congrats on demonstrating great leadership qualities!

The All City and Elementary Immersion Center 3rd graders attended a concert at the Washington Pavilion on March 20th to watch the SD symphony perform!! Third graders got a chance to meet a docent from the symphony and Pavilion prior to the concert to discuss the various instruments and etiquette at a performance. Next year, students can choose to join the orchestra as a fourth grader so this opportunity helps peak their interests in possibly joining! It was a wonderful concert with so much talent!

SFSD would like to give a huge shout-out to our partners at Delta Dental who visit schools to complete much-needed dental work for eligible students! Cleanings, cavities, and root canals are all done in the mobile bus, so students don’t have to miss school for an appointment! You put a smile on our faces, Delta Dental! Thank you!

Grief and Loss are the topics of this month's Family Forum Series - an online program to strengthen families with a partnership between SFSD and Avera Behavioral Health. Watch for the link Tuesday at 6pm or join us at sf.k12.sd.us. Click Students & Families, then Counseling.

Miss Nelson’s 4th graders went to the Sioux Empire Water Festival on March 7th. The annual 4th grade festival features presentations, exhibits and a quiz bowl all with water as the main theme. Students were able to engage in activities on topics such as wetland, habitats, wildlife, groundwater, health, safety, aquatic life, and even water music! Lots of fun was had by all!

The Jane Addams Staff wants to give a big thank you to Promising Futures for providing lunch to the teachers and staff! It was very delicious! We appreciate it very much! So kind of you all! Thank you very much!

Chess Club is busy in the midst of its tournament and kids are excited to see who will be crowned the new champion! Learning how to play chess is such a fun and challenging experience to get to learn something new! There are just a couple sessions left! Thanks Yoder family for organizing this each week!

Read Across America Week was celebrated March 1-3 at Jane Addams. Students had book battles, listened to guest Zoom readers, participated in dress up days, learned about the Sioux Falls flag, and had so much fun reading to try to get a bingo! Thanks to the JA staff who organized the fun!

Last week, we honored some new Soaring Eagles! We are so proud of them for displaying qualities of respect, responsibility, and safety! Way to go!

Look at these ACE families go! So much talent and heart put in from so many people! This Beauty and the Beast production is going to be a hit! Thank you for your time and efforts! The kids have been working hard on the songs, choreography, and speaking parts! It will be here in less than a month!

The 4th and 5th graders and their families did a great service project on February 27th with Kids Against Hunger! They measured, weighed, and packaged 4,362 meals of Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal with some soy protein that won’t expire until February 27, 2026. The meals are served worldwide after tragedies strike, such as after our most recent blizzard, a hurricane, or tornado. Somewhere, at some point, someone will really appreciate the meals we made. The meals were tasty too! The kids enjoyed wearing the hairnets! 😄
Thank you to Tiffany Beukelman for her Thrivent donation, all those who donated either by buying a hat from Donna Stolz, dropping money into the Tide box, or through Venmo! Our costs were covered!
