Miss Leloux's third graders were excited to go to Dow Rummel this month because they were bringing their biographies and photo frames to the residents they interviewed last month! The residents loved them! One resident said they would cherish this forever! Another had tears in her eyes as she heard about her life through a child's eyes! We love our time at Dow Rummel and the relationships we build with them! Thanks to our parent helpers for driving us! We love playing games with them as well!

Happy Social Worker Week!
In the Sioux Falls School District, every student's journey is unique. For many of the kids we serve, our school social workers are there every step of the way! Whether offering a listening ear, connecting families to resources, or advocating for students' well-being, their dedication ignites hope and creates lasting impact in our schools.
This year's theme, Unite to Ignite: Celebrating Our Impact, is a perfect reflection of how our social workers bring people together to create brighter futures for students.
THANK YOU to our incredible school social workers for your compassion and care!

Congrats High Flyers! We are so proud of you!

Thank you for the support at Pizza Ranch on Feb. 24th! We raised $823 from sales that evening! Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped clear dishes! Thanks to Karina for her help organizing this event!

Thanks for the support for our Scholastic Book Fair! The teachers will have $446 to spend on new books! Plus during the book fair there were 37 books bought off the teacher wishlists and given to the teachers right away! Way to support our teachers! Thanks Karina for getting this set up and organized!

Our 4th and 5th graders worked hard this last Friday to support our community during Kids Care! Thank you for dedicating your time and energy to helping others! Thanks to the staff and parents for helping as well! Way to go!

Big thank you to the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation for providing a taco bar for the staff! We appreciate it so much!

Mrs. Van Duyn, Mrs. Peterson, Miss Hecht, Miss Nelson, and Miss Leloux all attended the 2025 Teacher Clarity Conference in San Diego, CA. There were other Sioux Falls schools/teachers in attendance as well. In the two day conference, they learned many valuable tips and tools on bringing clarity in student learning that they will share during collaborations and back to their district assessment and clarity team meetings. We are excited to learn from them as we all strive to be lifelong learners and keep finding ways to bring success to our students!

We are still celebrating last night's wonderful Teacher of the Year event! So many amazing educators to celebrate! Congratulations again to 2025 Teacher of the Year, Bruce Rekstad, who left with a $4,000 check, courtesy of our friends at Vern Eide. Also, a huge congratulations to the other four finalists, Jennifer Aerts, Bryan Aukerman, Scott Amundson, and Jessica Foley. New this year, thanks to the generosity of the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation, these four finalists walked away with $1,000 each. So many wonderful memories were shared last night! We are so grateful to everyone who attended, from nominees and their friends and families to past ToY winners, past educators, school board members, SDEA friends, and SFSD administrators, it truly was an unforgettable night! Congrats to last week’s High Flyers! We are proud of you!

Great job, Jane Addams High Flying Eagles! Way to be responsible, respectful, and safe!

Miss Leloux’s third graders did a Super Reader Challenge the past two weeks. They were divided into teams, Chiefs and Eagles, to compete in a at home reading challenge! We every 30 minutes they read at home they could bring in a football and move 10 yards on the field to try to score a touchdown! As a class, they read almost 13,000 minutes outside of school! Way to go! In the end, the Chiefs were victorious! Throughout the week, they also go to do some football themed learning, enjoyed a Super Bowl Tailgate party and an awards ceremony. We are proud of each kiddo for their efforts!

A recent Facebook post regarding Washington High School falsely claimed a routine request for a birth certificate was related to immigration status.
State Law (SDCL 13-27-3.1-3.3) requires all public school students to have a birth certificate on file within 30 days of enrollment. When required records are missing from student files, school staff regularly attempt to contact families before sending the required information to the State’s Attorney.
These requests are made solely to ensure compliance with State Law and to maintain complete student records. They are in no way related to immigration enforcement. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families.
Please reach out to your child’s school or the district office with any questions rather than relying on social media for accurate information. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping student records up to date.

Big shout out to Mrs. Sweeter for National Counselor's Week! We appreciate all she does to support our students and families! She is amazing at what she does! Thanks for helping us grow!

Big thank you to all of the families who brought items for the teachers and staff meals during conferences! It is such a blessing to have one less thing to worry about during this busy week! We appreciate all of you!
