We had our annual Tug-of-War Challenge during Family. It is kindergarten vs 1st, 2nd vs 3rd, and 4th vs 5th. It gets very competitive, but always so fun to see the kids chanting and cheering on each grade!

For the second year in a row, the Sioux Falls School District is proud to be called one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association for Music Merchants Foundation. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the commitment of our students, and to the close ties that have grown together over the years in our music education community. As we celebrate this recognition, let us also celebrate the power of music to inspire, educate, and unite us all.

Happy School Nurse Day on May 8th! We appreciate all that Nurse Nick does for our students and staff at Jane Addams! Thanks!

Next, we want to highlight our "SPECIALS" teachers! We appreciate all of the ways they bring such fun to the arts, books, and exercise! Mrs. Anderson teaches music, Mrs. Smilloff teaches art, Mrs. Reavis teaches library, and Mr. Borges teaches PE. The kids really enjoy coming to your classes throughout the week. These teachers are very busy at other schools as well so we are thankful Jane Addams is one of their spots to teach. Thanks for all you do!

Third graders went on a field trip to the Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Sioux Falls. They first got to go into the Starlab which is a very cool inflatable globe figure where kids go inside and learn about the stars and constellations! So neat! After that, they broke into groups to do a scavenger hunt and explore the museum! Thank you to all of the parents willing to drive to help out all year!!

In family time, the ACE K-5 students went to the playground to do bubbles and chalk together! It was a blast!

The kids lined the hallways for the School Store!! Thank you for the support!

Last week, Mrs. Pike's kindergarten class took a field trip to the Great Plains Zoo. They all enjoyed looking at and learning about all of the animals! Thanks to all of the parents for driving to make these field trips possible!

Our last swimming day of the year at Embe was super fun! The kids just love our swimming days! Miss Leloux even cooled off and splashed in on the fun to surprise the kids on their last outing!

ACE & EIC third grade buddies played with chalk and bubbles on a beautiful Friday afternoon!

The annual ACE Talent Show was on May 6th. The kids and their families braved the stage to show off their many talents! Kids sang, danced, played an instrument, did comedy, made balloon art and a yummy snack. We are impressed with their bravery to get on stage and perform. The teachers even performed a "talent" by playing a game of Human Hungry Hungry Hippos! Check out the video:
